Autumn Equinox Foil Cadet and Youth Camp

Hosted by Grand Rapids Fencing Academy

This camp, the first of four during the 2003-2004 fencing season is scheduled for Friday, September 26 2003. This program is designed for intermediate and advanced fencers and focused on the preparation of youth fencers for the 2004 Summer Nationals.

This is a cumulative program and each camp will continue to build on the knowledge of the previous sessions. We would like to invite fencers ages 16 and under to join this camp. The fencers will be divided in the two age groups: 12 and under, and over 12; or by the fencing experience and skills. We would recommend at least two years of the fencing experience, and the camp will be limited to 20 students.

The hosting families of the members of Grand Rapids Fencing Academy will provide accommodation and meals. A trip to Gerald R. Ford Museum is included in the your tuition. The tuition is $95, including instructions, one private lesson, accommodation and meal. Tuition without accommodation and meal is $70.

The Maestros Mikhail and Arcadiy Sarkisov, the head coaches of Grand Rapids Fencing Academy, will teach this camp. Both Maestros hold a BS degree in Physical Education from Russian University and a Master’s degree in fencing. They were Champions of Soviet Union in 1985, medallists on the USSR Nationals from 1986-1989 and finalists at the World Cup and Student’s World Game competitions. Mikhail and Arkadiy have been developing fencing in Grand Rapids Metro area since 1993.
